Wahey! This Summers Devious Theatre program kicks off tomorrow with our 45 min segment for Shakespeare in the House entitled Shakespeare in Bits.
This is the second year for Shakespeare in the House at Rothe House Kilkenny and the event has been ramped up big time. It now takes place over two days and features acting workshops and a whole host of Shakespeare related activities. Dreamstuff Youth Theatre, the stage production unit of Young Irish Film Makers, will be performing Macbeth, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Romeo and Juliet and The Comedy Comedy of Errors. The performances will take place on a custom built stage as open air productions in the middle yard of Rothe House. The yard will be converted to resemble a Tudor open air playhouse.
Us Devious Chaps will be performing various monologues as well as scenes from plays not necessarily written by the Bard but most certainly about and involving him or his works. Some of which include: John Doran, Niamh Moroney and I tackling some scenes from The Complete Works of William Shakespeare Abridged by The Reduced Shakespeare Company. John Morton and Ken Mcgure performing some of Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead. Niamh and Scott Barriscale featuring in Shakespeare’s Editor by Ronan Atkinson and Hugh Laurie. And Kevin Mooney verbally abusing Scott in a Shakespearean take on the infamous Christian Bale Rant from the set of Terminator Salvation.
Shakespeare in the House kicks off at 11am Saturday and Sunday morning and runs all day. Shakespeare In Bits will be performed at 3pm on Saturday June 27th in Rothe House and at 2pm on Sunday 28th.

Shaking up William, well I do hope it all goes well and you have a bunch of fun. A firm fist gab for the editing Pip, rather good I would say. Rather good indeed.
